Casting Crowns
Who Am I – lyrics (partial)
Not because of who I am
But because of what You’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done
But because of who You are.
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean.
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I’m calling.
Lord, You catch me when I’m falling.
And You’ve told me who I am.
I am Yours, I am Yours.
I either wake up being “serenaded” with song lyrics or weird dreams. The last few days it’s been a weird combination of both. The song this morning from Casting Crowns “Who Am I” – not the whole song just this verse/refrain. The emphasis seemed to be the “I am Yours”. That we belong to God, that we are His, that we are created in His image and likeness is cause for celebration indeed. It’s time for me to reflect on that a bit in my own spiritual life. How do I respond to that? I’m needing to respond differently to being God’s. Oh do I ever. In view of others and in view of myself.
Last year my friend Debby went to Australia, she asked if there was something she could bring back for me – a stone, said I. And she did. Debby presented this stone as a great gift, in a Tiffany box. I like stones and flat shells. It’s unusual I know but I like stones – the color, the texture, the memory. Over at the USCCB I searched for the word “stone” with interesting results. Stones and rocks are used as reminders, altars, foundation, corner, building, stepping, stumbling.
As I’m sitting here wondering why both of these things are brought to mind. I’m going to sit with both of these for a few days. I have one more thing I need to do before going to work this morning. Eventually this will be related to quilting. 🙂
God bless,
Teri
