Happy New Year 2023: Tenacity & 2024: Play

Happy New Year!

It is the first Sunday of Advent and for us as Catholics it is a good time to begin again. There are several times during the calendar year that have a rhythm of beginning again. Since starting an intentional Word of the year it always comes and is revealed at the end of November, beginning of December, which actually coincides with the New Year in the Church. Sometimes seeing the field at the edge of the forest is a little challenging.

Tenacity, my 2023 word of the year was a great and lived out in unexpected ways. Applying for, and getting into the Spiritual Direction formation program here in the diocese of Austin. Digging into prayer. Finding my deeper sense of humor. Digging into my relationship with my Sweetie, you know, all the cool stuff.

And now for 2024 – this one came as something of a surprise, one that is filled with adventure.

This came along as I was reading a book that I was struggling with. There is a sense of fun and work and joy and figuring things out and choosing the whole box of 64 Crayons, or the cool felt tip pens, coloring books but also it’d be fun to find a merry go round or swings.
