Galatians 5:22 & 23 "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law" Often when I think I'm going in one direction, with clarity and purpose I generally find something else happens. I asked one of my contributors to write about "time and … Continue reading Surprise

Philippians 4:4-8
Today's post is from a friend of mine who will be a regular contributor to the blog. She remains anonymous at her request. She writes this week on one of my favorite passages of scripture. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord … Continue reading Philippians 4:4-8
Grasping at Gratitude
I wrote "If I were actually writing a book" in preparation for writing a book. Yes dear friends I'm going to write a book on machine quilting. I have a focus and I'm still thinking through what kinds of samples will go into the book, particularly the proposal so it has the best chance of … Continue reading Grasping at Gratitude
Two by two
My original thought for this post was a reflection on this weeks readings. However, as often happens with so much in life something else is presented that makes more sense. To everything there is a season
From Ecclesiastes 3 (USCCB) 1* There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens. 2A time to give birth, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant. I'm not quite sure how to write this post. Thinking and trying to … Continue reading To everything there is a season

Giving up At some point during this journey I knew I needed to give up. Surrender. Recognize that I needed to live in the desert in order to reconnect with something greater than myself. Early on in this desert place I felt like giving up quilting, teaching and writing. I mistook this place for an … Continue reading Giving up, Giving in, Giving over
A Quilters Heart
The last few days, "Thinking! Thinking!" in the Elfred voice from Josie (my Garmin Nuvi) has been running through my head. You see a friend, Debby, made a suggestion that has really just resonated with this quilters heart. My friend suggested a series of reflections, essays, devotionals if you will on quilting and faith and … Continue reading A Quilters Heart
