“You’ve got the Love”

“You’ve Got The Love”
Florence & the Machine

Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air
I know I can count on you
Sometimes I feel like saying “Lord I just don’t care”
But you’ve got the love I need To see me through

Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough
And things go wrong no matter what I do
Now and then it seems that life is just too much
But you’ve got the love I need to see me through

When food is gone you are my daily meal
When friends are gone I know my Saviour’s love is real
You know it’s real

You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love

Time after time I think “Oh Lord what’s the use?”
Time after time I think it’s just no good
‘Cause sooner or later in life, the things you love you lose
But you got the love I need to see me through

[2x]
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love
You got the love

Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air
‘Cause I know I can count on you
Sometimes I feel like saying “Lord I just don’t care”
But you’ve got the love I need to see me through

So I was all set to write a little more about being still – Psalm 46:10 and then I heard this song. I work late on Thursday nights and am always happy to turn on “Faith in Culture” night on the Busted Halo Show. The format of the show is the caller will let the host know what song they’re calling in about (the caller will have let the screener know what song), a clip of the song is played; then Fr. Dave and the caller will talk about why this particular song has spiritual connotations for them. Sometimes it’s pretty clear listening to the song, sometimes not so much and the insight from the caller really clues us in.

When I get up at 5 in the morning for no reason sometimes I do those fb quizzes “what kind of this or that are you”? They’re kind of funny and like horoscopes are either right or wrong. “You’ve got the Love” was apparently written for me.

Had I called in to Busted Halo there are a couple of things in the lyrics I’d point out:
1) When food is gone you are my daily meal; When friends are gone I know my Saviour’s love is real; You know it’s real

2) Sometimes I feel like saying “Lord I just don’t care”; But you’ve got the love I need to see me through
This song speaks to my heart.
On a completely unrelated but quilt related topic a little over a year ago Libby Lehman had an aneurism rupture in her brain. This last year has been rough on her and the family. Libby is having a really rough time of it right now struggling with depression that is leading to thoughts of suicide. The doctors have her on anti-depressants however those take time to get into the system, in the mean time the conversations with her family are gut-wrenching at best. Please lift Libby and her family in your prayers.
God bless!
Teri
