GOOD Friday
Yes it is.This is the one day – the only day of the year that Mass is not celebrated.
The Communion Service is so beautiful. So beautiful. The Readings for the day are deeply meaningful and rich to be savored. April 18th will forever be a Feast Day (though today will be a Fast Day) as it was Holy Saturday the year I was Confirmed.
As I was thinking about Holy Week and it’s inherent richness and depth of this time; how this moment reconciles all that has come before. It calls us to live fully and freely.
So I got to thinking about Ruth – we were part of the same group journeying through the Rite of Christian Initiation at the same time. Ruth and I had breakfast together talking a little bit more about what brought us to this moment. Our conversation is something I’ll remember for a long time. Ruth gave me a copy of John Paul II’s “Mulieris Dignatatem” or “On the Dignity and Vocation of Women” which would take me another 3 years before I read it. And it changed my whole perception of how the Church views and values womanhood and femininity and our feminine genius. So I got to thinking it’s time to read it again and as I read. I’ll share. Of course.
God bless!
