The beauty of early morning quiet is that I can be still and know that God is God and I am not. There is a melody running through my head that I can’t quite remember where it came from. “Be still and know that I Am God” quietly strolls through my mind asking me to just slow down for a little bit. When I do I am refreshed and recharged. When I don’t life gets to be a bit, well, overwhelming and frenzied. It is often in these times that pen and paper meet in sweet fellowship producing words or images. This deliberate act forces my mind to slow down allowing the stillness to envelope my soul.

Dear God,
I seek your rest and your mercy. I long to draw closer to you through this time of quiet rest, stillness.
